So I have not blogged in a while, for which I am rather annoyed with myself, but I have also been getting used to a totally new schedule. As I've mentioned before I think I now work at a call center which I've discovered that I really enjoy. A little over a week ago, my trainer went around asking for volunteers to work on graveyard for at least the rest of the week. Since I'd asked a couple weeks earlier to be put on graveyard, I immediately volunteered, as did one my friends. I finally found out today, no, sorry, last night, that the six of us who volunteered to go on graveyard, are now on permanent graveyard which was pretty darned fantastic. While I'm really enjoying graveyard, its also been a huge change. I've basically been working and sleeping and that's it. My body's still trying to adjust to the change, I think.
But let me tell you, when we started on graveyard we were told that it was boring as all get out and we would probably hate it. Um, really, boring? No. I don't think I have ever been more entertained. Trust me, eight sleep-deprived people at about five in the morning is anything but boring. Its nothing short of hilarious and bizarre. But I really love that, because it is so wild and random. A quick example of it, I have a tendency to hum a song that's stuck in my head. Normally I don't sing out loud when other people are around, because I think my voice sucks and I just don't have the confidence to really sing out. But I've found that I'm actually really comfortable around these people and am really not afraid. So at about three on Tuesday, I started randomly singing My Favorite Things from Sound of Music, not real loud, just kind of to myself. Well, next you thing, my friend starts singing along and within about thirty seconds, the eight of us who were all sitting together were belting out the song. And since then, its been happening a lot which I think is pretty fantastic.
In other news, other than work, I did sign up for a songwriting course today which I am really excited about. I've written probably close to a hundred songs but I've never taken any kind of songwriting course or anything so I'm really excited for the chance to improve. I also decided to take an online guitar class. I figured if I'm going to start taking my songwriting more seriously, I should probably work harder at learning how to play an instrument well enough that I can actually put my songs to music. So I'm also really excited about that.
Now that my schedule's going to take on some form of normality I will work at keeping up with my blogging better. Hopefully!
Hey Morgan! I'm so glad you're enjoying your new job so much. Why'd you decide you wanted to work graveyard?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Mostly because the schedule I was going to get otherwise would take up basically my entire day. And also because I'm much more of a night person than a day person, so I've adapted to the different hours pretty well.
